Psychiatric Nurses provide professional nursing care to mentally ill and/or mentally and physically ill or disabled individuals, in an institution or outpatient setting.
The position supports Rural Clinics-Ely Mental Health Center located at 1675 Avenue F. Ely, Nevada. Our Agency's mission is to work with community partners to improve quality of life. Some of the valuable services we provide include: Outpatient Counseling, Service Coordination, Medication Clinic, Psychosocial Rehabilitation, Residential Support Programs and Consumer Advocacy. This position provides direct psychiatric nursing services to clients, including assessments, plans and therapeutic interventions; organizes and oversees medication clinic and services for Center clients; provide consultation and education to clients, the community, and other service providers.
Incumbents in this position will gain experience providing psychiatric nursing services at the Ely Mental Health Center. This is an outpatient mental health clinic that serves individuals who are persistently and severely mentally ill. This Clinic has been designated as a Loan Repayment Site through the National Health Service Corps. The selected applicant will be eligible to apply for this federal program, which pays off any outstanding student loans. To Qualify
Education and Experience
1)Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Nevada and one year of professional nursing experience; OR one year as a Registered Nurse I in Nevada State service caring for psychiatric or developmentally disabled patients; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Notes
1)A bachelor's degree in nursing is equivalent to a diploma or associate's degree in nursing and one year of experience.
Special Requirements
1)CPR certification is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
2)A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
3)A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
4)Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, this position has been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this position must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances.
