Reno Hospitals

Located in Northern Nevada, the Reno-Sparks metro area, which includes the adjacent cities of Reno and Sparks, is home to more than 400,500 people. Reno is the third-largest city in the state, and is 26 miles north of Carson City, the capital of Nevada.

As the population has grown in the area, so too has the creation of new jobs, particularly in the medical field. Demand for qualified medical professionals at hospitals in Reno and Lake Tahoe has never been higher. Northern Nevada is home to a number of hospitals and healthcare facilities, with expansions, renovations and new centers creating a constant demand for qualified medical professionals and opportunities for these professionals to embark on new career paths, build upon their skills and expertise, and take part in new and important healthcare innovations.

To help meet demand, the U. S. Department of Labor recently awarded a grant to Truckee Meadows College for education, training and a nurse mentor program. The goal is to get more than 260 new nurses into Reno-area hospitals and medical facilities immediately.

Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center is the name connecting services offered throughout the region. These comprehensive services offer convenient access to a system of care where it is needed most, including a state-of-the-art medical center in Carson City and satellite facilities in Minden, Dayton and Gardnerville. Specialties include cardiology and pulmonary rehabilitation.

Carson Valley Medical Center, located in Gardnerville, offers hospital and outpatient surgery services, rehabilitation therapy, and 24-hour emergency care. Outpatient services are also offered at satellite centers in Minden Village and Topaz Ranch Estates.

Northern Nevada Medical Center offers diagnosis and treatment of acute clinical conditions. Located in Sparks, the 100-bed hospital has more than 500 affiliated physicians and features a Level III emergency department. The hospital is also associated with a number of area nursing programs.

Renown Health is a not-for-profit health network and Northern Nevada’s largest healthcare network. It includes four hospitals, urgent care facilities, x-ray and imaging facilities, and specialists in virtually every field of medicine, with an emphasis on cancer, heart and neurosciences services.

Saint Mary’s is the only faith-based healthcare organization in the area. Located in Reno, the 376-bed non-profit has 12 facilities and more than 850 physicians. It offers services ranging from cardiac care both inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation.

Sierra Heart Institute has primary office locations in Reno and Carson City, and provides comprehensive cardiovascular care to its patients, with an emphasis on diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation. It also staffs community clinics throughout rural Nevada and nearby California.

Tahoe Pacific Hospitals are located on the campuses of Renown Medical Center and Saint Mary’s Regional Medical Center in Reno. The hospitals treat medically complex patients requiring extended hospitalization, with treatment including physical, speech, occupational, respiratory, recreational and psychological therapy.

West Hills Hospital is a 95-bed hospital located in Reno. It serves the community with a spectrum of behavioral health services for children, teens and adults, including inpatient, outpatient and partial hospitalization, chemical detox, and rehabilitation. It serves Northern Nevada and Northern California.

Willow Springs Center is a 76-bed residential treatment facility located in Reno. It specializes in helping youth (ages 5-17) recover from emotional, psychiatric, behavioral and chemical dependency problems. The facility includes full-time interdisciplinary clinical and medical team.

VA Sierra Nevada Health Care System serves veterans in 20 counties in Northern Nevada and Northeastern California. The Reno campus is the Ioannis A. Lougaris VA Medical Center, which features 56 hospital beds and 60 transitional care unit beds. It provides a wide range of inpatient and outpatient services.
