Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others. &#x0D;
 &#x0D;
This position is located within the Nevada State Health Division, Frontier and Rural Health Program, Pahrump. The position is responsible for protection of public health through activities related to the inspection and enforcement of over 4,900 food establishments, hotels, motels, institutions, school, correctional facilities, and RV parks throughout the State. In addition, this position reviews permits and inspects on-site residential sewage disposal systems. Incumbents are responsible for regulating and enforcing State law relating to: drug licensing investigations; label review, sampling and inspection of drug and cosmetic manufacturing plants; certification of septic systems; inspection of food warehouses, traditional food and drink establishments, health facilities, public institutions and many other related facilities. As a Health Division employee, incumbents are expected to be available for call-back during public health incidents and/or emergencies to perform duties specific to this position or to perform other duties as requested associated with a response role. This may entail working a non-traditional work schedule or at another duty station during the incident and/or emergency. NOTE: Per NV State Legislature, State of Nevada Classified employees are subject to a mandatory unpaid furlough requirement of one day per month (part-time prorated) through June 30, 2011.  &#x0D;

Health Care Coordinators perform professional work related to program operations and auditing providers to ensure compliance with program policies and regulations. Review health care providers and fiscal agents to ensure clients are receiving appropriate services and payment is correct for services received, process payment authorization requests from providers to ensure the requested service, treatment, equipment or supplies are medically necessary and in compliance with Medicaid criteria prior to approving or denying requests. Review records from the fiscal agent, providers, clients and computer generated reports in order to identify abuse and potential fraud and to ensure claims were paid properly by the fiscal agent. Explain proper billing procedures to contract providers selected by the client; monitor the quality of care given by the provider to clients; and submit billings for services provided to the fiscal agent for payment. &#x0D;

Incumbents perform the full range of duties described above. In addition, incumbents at this level may intermittently serve as the project lead of a case management team, function as coordinator of a specifically assigned protion of a program, and assist in training other Health care Coordinators and providers. Bachelor's degree in related field is required. Minimum of three to five years experience with tumor registry abstracting and a minimum of two years previous experience in abstracting cancer information from medical records and/or pathology reports with a minimum of three to five years supervisor or management experience are required. Qualified candidates must be able to accurately stage tumors by using TNM, SEER, and Collaborative Staging criteria. Knowledge of Medical Records organization is required. Must be able to perform duties independently and work closely with physicians in interpreting pathology and other clinical reports for final determination, interpret medical reports for cancer diagnosis and treatment, be highly organized and detail oriented with the ability to multi-task.
